Police arrest man accused of north Columbia robbery
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Columbia police officers arrested a man Monday suspected of robbing a woman of her vehicle earlier in the day.
A release from the police department said Saroeun M. Sorm, 35, of Columbia was arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
Court documents say a female victim was driving a vehicle with Sorm in the passenger seat just after 3:30 p.m. Police say Sorm instructed the victim to pull over into a parking lot off of N. Paris Road.
Sorm's probable cause statement said he punched the victim and forced her out of the vehicle. Officers said he drove away with the car.
Police obtained surveillance camera footage which they say shows the victim fall out of the passenger side.
The police department release said the vehicle was found at Sorm's residence in the 2400 block of Springdale Drive about an hour later.
Boone County prosecutors have charged the man with a felony count of second-degree robbery. Online court records say Sorm was denied bond.
