WEDNESDAY UPDATES: Missouri health department reports 3,800+ new COVID-19 cases

State health department workers reported 3,854 new COVID-19 cases across Missouri on Wednesday.

The new cases brought the state's total since the pandemic started up to 408,443.

The state health department dashboard included 33 more virus-related deaths were reported on Wednesday. Missouri's total since the pandemic started increased to 5,858.

Health data included on the state dashboard said the seven-day coronavirus positivity rate went up 0.3% since Tuesday's update to 19.7% on Wednesday.

Hospital officials said virus-related hospitalizations and ICU admissions increased on Wednesday. The dashboard said 2,738 were in the hospital because of the coronavirus and that 624 had to be admitted to ICU beds.

Boone County reports 2nd death this week, 171 new coronavirus cases

Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting one new coronavirus related death.

Officials say the individual was in the 60-64 age group. That makes the second death this week and 60th since March 18.

The health department is reporting 171 new COVID-19 cases for Wednesday, a 62 case increase from Tuesday.

The dashboard is currently reporting 807 active cases, an increase of 89 cases from Tuesday.

The county now has a reported total number of COVID-19 cases of 14,466.

The county has reported the total number of cases removed from isolation is 13,599, an increase of 81 from Tuesday.

Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services dashboard has reported the latest five-day average as 125, an increase of 33 in the five-day averages.

The dashboard is reporting the positivity rate of 37.3% for Dec. 25 through last Thursday.

The health department is reporting the total hospitalizations in Boone County at 108 cases, a drop of nine.

The number of Boone County residents hospitalized is reported to be 28.

The dashboard is reporting 25 COVID-19 patients in the ICU and 10 patients on ventilators.

The hospital status is still currently in the 'yellow' zone.
