Tracking another shot at some snow today
WEDNESDAY: Rain continues to fall this morning but will start to mix in some more wintry weather. That rain will transition to sleet and snow toward 8-9 AM before all snow takes over by midday. Dry air will kick most of the moisture southeast of us by 3 PM. With such a short window and temperatures only falling into the low to mid 30’s, accumulations will be tough to come by. Our best chance will be closer to I-44, with an inch being the ceiling but most looking at a dusting.
TONIGHT: Things settle down for once as mostly cloud skies stick around. Overnight lows fall into the middle 20’s.
EXTENDED: That break will carry us through Thursday afternoon as temperatures climb into the middle 30’s. It’s short-lived, though as our final round pushes in Thursday evening. This system looks to bring another wintry mix, with freezing rain being the biggest problem. Ice accretion amounts in the 0.10-0.25” neighborhood can certainly cause problems on the roadways, but there will be a couple of limiting factors that could help out. Temperatures are going to be hovering right around the freezing mark overnight, but this system still bears watching. Plan on slick roads Friday morning. That system will push out by Friday afternoon, with a chance to pick up some flakes as it does. We’re dry this weekend, with temperatures in the 30’s Saturday, warming into the 40’s Sunday. Those upper 40’s look to stay with us along with the quiet weather to start next week.
