Tracking rain overnight, followed by brief wintry mix Wednesday

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with rain moving in late. Showers continue overnight. Low near 38.

TOMORROW: Rain through mid-morning, moving south during the day. Cold air moves in by mid-afternoon, allowing rain to briefly change over to snow south of Highway 50. A dusting of snow will be possible, with precipitation shifting south toward I-44 for the rest of the evening. Temperatures falling to the low to mid-30s.

EXTENDED: A few slick spots will be possible along and south of I-44 on Wednesday night into Thursday morning with precipitation stalling out along a front. Most of Thursday is dry, cloudy, and cold with temperatures staying in the mid-30s. By Thursday night, our next low pressure system slides in from the south, bringing rain in late. Rain changes over to freezing rain after 8:00 or 9:00 Thursday, bringing the potential for a glaze of ice north of Highway 50. Rainfall rates will be steady, limiting the amount of ice accretion we could see, but slick spots will be possible into Friday morning. The best shot at seeing snow will be on Friday morning across northwest Missouri, with little to no snow accumulation expected across Mid-Missouri. We begin to dry out Friday afternoon, with temperatures reaching the upper 30s to around 40. There's a slim chance for a few snow showers on Saturday, followed by a big warm up on Sunday back into the low 40s.
