Mizzou’s defense struggles in loss to Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, Miss. (KMIZ)

Mizzou's defense could not contain Mississippi State on Saturday night as the Bulldogs beat the Tigers 51-32.

The Tigers gave up 446 yards of offense on Saturday, including 151 yards on the ground. The Bulldogs averaged just 22 yards rushing a game coming into this matchup.

The lone bright spot on MU's defense was Shawn Robinson. The Tigers former starting quarterback finished the game with five tackles and one interception.

Quarterback Connor Bazelak finished the game 22/38 for 225 yards. The redshirt freshman threw two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Running back Larry Rountree finished the regular season with a strong performance. The senior carried the ball 25 times for 121 yards and two touchdowns.

Mizzou finished the regular season 5-5. That's the most SEC wins for the Tigers since 2014.

The Tigers will now await their bowl destination. Mizzou should know where it will play in the postseason on Sunday afternoon.
