Columbia man faces multiple charges after two incidents
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man faces felony drug charges in connection with two separate investigations.
Court documents show Ronald Thornton the third was arrested after leading police and deputies on a high-speed chase in Boone County on Dec. 1.
At times the car reportedly drove faster than 100 miles per hour before parking on the lawn of a house and Thornton got out of the car and ran into a home. Thornton left the home 17 minutes later and was taken into police custody.
Investigators say they found marijuana, THC candy and a scale in his backpack in the vehicle.
In this court case, Thornton is charged with one count of resisting arrest and one count of delivery of a controlled substance.
Thornton's next court date for these charges is on Dec. 28.
Court documents from the second case show Thornton was shot at the Fulton Event Center on Nov. 15.
According to court documents, Thornton drove back to Columbia and had friends drop him off at University Hospital. Police then stopped the vehicle and searched it after seeing marijuana in plain view according to a probable cause statement.
According to court documents, police found various amounts of marijuana, cocaine, pain killers and cash in Thornton's backpack during a search of the vehicle.
Police issued a summons for Thornton at the time because he was hospitalized due to injuries.
Thornton is charged with two county of delivery of a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
Thornton will go to court for these charges on Jan. 28.
