Tracking light snow accumulation tonight

Our next shot at wintry weather in Mid-Missouri comes tonight as a weak wave of low pressure moves across the region through early Wednesday morning.

Snow has been falling across parts of Oklahoma and Kansas this afternoon, but is encountering some dry air as it moves into Missouri. Eventually, we'll see enough saturation through the lower and mid-levels of the atmosphere to bring light snowfall to the ground in Mid-Missouri, likely after sunset.

Precipitation will be light, falling as flurries or light snow showers. The best chance to see accumulation will be after 7:00 PM through about 3:00 AM Wednesday, mainly along and south of I-70.

Amounts will be low, from a dusting to less than an inch for most areas. There could be some slick spots on bridges or overpasses Wednesday morning, and temperatures will still be below freezing, so winter coats, hats, and gloves, will be necessary. The wind chills will be in the upper teens to around 20 degrees with a light morning breeze.
