Indiana man gets prison time for Jefferson City pharmacy robbery
A federal judge sentenced an Indiana man Friday to 14 years in prison without parole for robbing a Jefferson City Walgreens pharmacy at gunpoint.
Jerome Scott King, 20, pleaded guilty in February to committing the July 2018 armed robbery of the Walgreens at 2002 Missouri Blvd. with three other men, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney for Missouri’s Western District. Another man, Raymond Allen Craig, 21, of Indianapolis, has pleaded guilty but hasn’t been sentenced.
A third person charged in the robbery has not been convicted and the fourth man has not been identified, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
Police chased the robbers in a vehicle from the store, and during the chase the robbers threw more than 4,000 pills and other items from the vehicle, the release said. The Missouri State Highway Patrol used spike strips to stop the vehicle on Highway 54 in Callaway County and captured King and Craig, but the unidentified man escaped.
The robbery was part of a crime spree that included robberies of a CVS pharmacy in Hot Springs, Arkansas and a CVS in Metairie, Louisiana, the U.S. attorney’s office said. King faces charges in those states, as well. Court documents say he was associated with members of an Indianapolis gang called The Mob.
