Rain and rumbles of thunder for Friday

TONIGHT: Light showers taper off, mostly cloudy. Temperatures stay in the mid-30s. A few slick spots possible north of Highway 24 on elevated surfaces.

FRIDAY: Starting off cloudy and cold with rain returning by late morning. Showers are steady through the day with a few rumbles of thunder possible in the evening. Highs in the low 40s.

EXTENDED: A warm front lifts through the region Friday night, increasing temperatures into the 50s past midnight. Rain tapers off by or before midday Saturday, leaving us windy and quite warm. Total rain amounts through Saturday will be around 1". Highs reach the upper 50s to low 60s on Saturday, with wind gusts getting up to 30-35 mph. Clouds build back in with the front passing through on Sunday, and it gets much colder as temperatures drop into the low 40s. Winds will gust up to 35 mph for most of the day, keeping wind chills in the 30s. A few snow or rain showers will be possible north of I-70. Next week looks a bit warmer and drier with temperatures near the seasonal normals.
