Columbia stores have special hours for Black Friday
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Shoppers will make their way to stores in and around Columbia Thursday night as Thanksgiving comes to an end and Black Friday begins.
Several stores in Columbia will have different hours beginning Thursday.
According to its Facebook page, The Columbia Mall will be open Thursday from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. and will be open on Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Target in the Columbia Mall will be open later than the mall. Target will be open Thursday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. and then on Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
According to Best Buy's website, the Columbia location on Worley Street will open at 5 p.m. on Thursday and stay open until 1 a.m. It will re-open on Black Friday at 8 a.m. and close at 10 p.m.
On the south side of town, Kohls will also be observing special hours for Thanksgiving and Black Friday. The Columbia location will be open from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Thursday. It will be open for 24 hours on Black Friday.
Walmart's open for 24 hours will observe their regular hours during Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
Travis Saovo waited outside of Best Buy Thursday with a friend. They were on a mission to buy tv and Nintendo Switch.
Saovo said he believes Thursday's dreary weather had an impact on the number of people who got out to go Black Friday shopping.
"It's been cold and rainy all day so it probably limited how many people wanted to come out and wait in front of a Best Buy," he said.
"When we showed up there was basically no one here. It was kind of surprising because the line's usually pretty long," he said.
He said he expected the traffic and foot traffic to increase in Columbia as the night progressed.
"I think once actually the stores open they'll be plenty of people. You can see people coming in now," Saovo said.
He said traffic early in the afternoon was not bad.
"The roads are pretty fine. There's not really too much traffic out and about. I don't know about later," he said.
