Capitol contractor appealing workplace violations
A contractor leading the stone restoration at the Missouri Capitol building is appealing violations cited by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Chicago-based Bulley & Andrews LLC was cited for noise exposure on the job site for either not controlling sound levels or not providing employees with protective equipment if those measures did not work.
These infractions carry fines of $6,630 for each of the four “serious” violations, totaling $19,890.
The violations that were issued on July 24. The contractor was given an Aug. deadline to pay but instead contested the citation on that date.
The $28.69 million Capitol stone exterior restoration began in spring 2018 and is expected to be finished by December 2020.
Appeals of the OSHA violations are handled by the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
