Man charged with stealing $30,000 in Callaway County burglary

A man is charged after a burglary at a Holts Summit residence after allegedly taking $30,000 during a burglary.
According to court documents, Darik Giarratano is accused of burglarizing a home of a safe that had $30,000 cash and a folder with deeds and titles in it.
The owner told the sheriff's department nothing else was taken but the safe.
According to the owner's family, Giarratano texted the family member about having stuff to give to the member after not speaking to the family member for months.
A tip came in to the area's crimestoppers about Giarratano stealing the safe and giving money to someone.
Officials say Giarratano was interviewed and said that another man broke into the house and stole the safe as Giarratano was acting as the lookout.
The two men then allegedly broke open the safe and dumped the papers and safe off a bridge.
Giarratano is charged with 1st degree burglary and stealing - $25,000 or more.
Court documents report Callaway County has a warrant out for Giarratano's arrest.
According to court documents reveal Giarratano is out on bond from Cole County awaiting trial for burglary.
