Cole County Commissioner urges residents to get flu shot

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Cole County commissioner Sam Bushman stated the importance of those in Cole receiving a flu vaccine, after the county has seen over 100 cases each of the past three days.

Bushman said if the flu strain is strenuous this year it could, "very well be a killer," with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Those looking to get a flu vaccine in Cole have an opportunity to do so at the Cole County Health Department.

The department is holding their second and final day of a drive thru flu clinic Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon.

Anyone over 19 years of age is eligible to receive a vaccine at no cost at the health department.

All that is required is a consent form to be filled out prior to arriving, those can be found on the health department's website.

Consent forms will also be available at the health department if the form was not filled out prior.

The service was also offered last Wednesday, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

MU Health Care has also extended their drive thru flu clinic.

The service was originally set to end October 31st but will now run through November 14th.

The clinic is open from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturdays with more details available on their website.
