Glasgow city leaders nominate former mayor for old position
GLASGOW, Mo. (KMIZ)
Glasgow city leaders held a meeting Monday, a week after three officials resigned.
The Glasgow Board of Aldermen nominated the city's recently resigned mayor to take over his old position. Fred Foley wasn't at the meeting to accept the nomination. He is allowed to refuse it.
Glasgow police chief Charlie Polson said the city vacancies need to be filled soon.
"The city is going to shut down, if there's not somebody in city hall on Dec. 7," Polson said.
Glasgow alderman Chris Damron is serving as the mayor pro-tem. The city's attorney said the mayor's position is on the ballot for the April municipal election.
Some resigned city leaders, including Foley, are still listed on the city's website.
