Tracking a welcomed warmup
THURSDAY: A warm front brought us some fog overnight but that’s on it’s way out this morning. We’ll be left with some much-needed sunshine after a pretty gloomy week so far. Winds will pick up out of the south, with gusts up around 30-35 mph expected. That will push temperatures into the low to mid 80’s this afternoon.
TONIGHT: A cold front moving through tonight will put an end to the warm weather. As it moves through, it will generate a line of thunderstorms that will move southeast. As they do so after midnight, they’re expected to weaken and stay below severe limits. But some of us will get off to a loud start to our Friday.
EXTENDED: Those storms will slide southeast of us by noon Friday, leaving us in the cool, breezy air. Temperatures will fall into the 40’s behind the front during the morning, and likely stay there through the afternoon. Not much warming is expected into Saturday with highs nearing 50, but it’s looking like the drier day of the weekend. Another system moves through Sunday, bringing some more widespread rain chances to mid-Missouri. That rain, while coming in a few different waves, won’t leave us through the middle of next week. These multiple disturbances moving through, may tap into some more cold air and drag that down our direction. If that’s the case, we may mix in a few wet snowflakes Monday night into Tuesday morning but nothing impactful is expected.
