Boone County Jail inmate on trial for 2nd-degree murder charged with assaulting another inmate

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Boone County Jail inmate is charged with 3rd degree assault after striking another inmate in the face allegedly.

According to Boone County probable cause statment, Javion Lawhorn walked up to another inmate at the Boone County Jail and punch the victim in the head while the victim was sitting at a table.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and received treatment for an eye impact injury.

Lawhorn was already in the jail awaiting trial on 2nd degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, two counts of unlawful use of weapon. Lawhorn will go before the court Wednesday on those charges.

Lawhorn will go before the court on the assault charge on Oct. 29.

Lawhorn has a $25,000 cash or surety bond for the new assault charge.
