Much warmer weather expected Wednesday and Thursday

THIS AFTERNOON: Drizzle and light rain showers are expected to continue through the afternoon. The heavier rainfall, with embedded thunder will be more likely closer to the I-44 corridor. Temperatures will be variable-- in the 50s along and north of I-70 and in the low to mid 60s further to the south.

TONIGHT: Our better shot at picking up some meaningful rain looks to be after sunset, with even a rumble of thunder possible. Lows will back up into the upper 40’s.

EXTENDED: The warm front responsible for the rain chances today will continue to wander north tomorrow. As it does, light sprinkles will be possible, but will otherwise be cloudy with highs warming into the upper 60’s. We can move out the rain chances temporarily Thursday. Sunshine will return, along with a southerly breeze, helping temperature into the low 80’s. Don’t get used to it, though. That front will be coming back through Friday, bringing a good chance at storms Friday morning, and temperatures in the 50’s by the afternoon. We’ll go into the weekend cool but dry, and that will last through Saturday. Rain looks to move back in Sunday with temperatures warming into the upper 50’s. That active theme looks like it will stick around into next week.
