Cole County man arrested after chase in Moniteau County

CLARKSBURG, Mo. (KMIZ)

Early Wednesday Morning, Moniteau County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity at the Clarksburg Baptist Church.

Officials say deputies found the vehicle near the junction of Hwy H and Hwy 50.

Deputies then attempted to stop the vehicle which then fled onto Hwy 50 heading west. The vehicle then turned onto Hwy E headed south towards Latham, Mo. The suspect's vehicle then attempted to turn onto Mt. Moriah Road but could not navigate the turn due to his speed and proceeded into a ditch and through the church grass area and then came back onto Mt. Moriah Road where it came to a stop.

The deputy on scene reported a strong odor of marijuana, leading to a search of the vehicle. Officials report that deputies found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, packaging materials and meth and upon further searching of the area, more meth was discovered along with digital scales that had been thrown from the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was issued a summons for no operator’s license and a summons for resisting arrest by fleeing and released.

The passenger and vehicle owner, Nyson T. Moore, 21, Jefferson City, is currently on probation/parole was taken into custody and transported to the Moniteau County Jail.

Moore is charged with Possession Of Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams Or Less Of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid and Unlawful Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia - Prior Drug Offense.

Moore's bond was set at $25,000 for 10% cash or surety.
