Authorities: Missouri quarry body may be man who fled police

GREEN PARK, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say a man who fled from police two weeks ago might be the person whose body was found in a quarry.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports officers were investigating on Sept. 24 a report of suspicious people at an industrial complex.

Two people were taken into custody, but a 29-year-old man ran off.

The handler of the a tracking dog stopped the search that day because of the dangerous terrain.

After some officers saw on social media that the man was missing, they returned and searched again.

A body was found Wednesday in about two feet of water near a quarry surrounded by steep embankments.
