Missouri Task Force 1 being deployed ahead of Hurricane Delta

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Missouri Task Force 1 is being deployed tonight to Ponchatoula, LA to aid the Gulf Coast Region ahead of Hurricane Delta.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is activating Missouri Task Force 1 as a Type 3 Task Force. The Type 3 team will deploy with 45 members and a Type 1 cache with an enhanced water rescue package embedded.

The team will stage in Louisana with TN-TF1 and TX-TF1 until Hurricane Delta makes landfall.

The team will then receive assignments based on needs from local and state officials.

This is the task forces third deployment this hurricane season. They previously went on Sept. 13 to Baton Rouge, LA for Tropical Storm Sally. The task force first went to Texas to help aid them during Hurricane Laura.
