Man faces federal charge after north Columbia chase

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Federal prosecutors charged a man with being a felon in possession of a firearm after a chase in north Columbia led to three arrests Tuesday.

Joseph Luckett, 25, was charged Wednesday after federal investigators said he was investigated accused of selling heroin.

A special agent with Alcohol, Firearms and Tobacco said Luckett was in possession of drugs and multiple firearms. According to the federal investigator, Columbia police officers found heroin, cocaine, a digital scale and four firearms inside his residence at Oakland Gravel Road.

Federal documents show Luckett dropped off a bag of drugs at a residence at the 1500 block of Vandiver Drive following a chase. CPD said a woman told officers he showed up at the trailer and asked her to hide a bag of drugs. According to officers, she said two unknown men came after Luckett and took the bag.

Authorities said none of the firearms seized were manufactured in Missouri.

Luckett was convicted of resisting arrest in 2017. He was sentenced to four years in prison. Luckett is being held in the Boone County jail without bond.

Law enforcement has not announced any other arrests related to the chase.
