Man arrested Wednesday after running cars off the road during a chase through multiple counties
MONITEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
On Wednesday, local law enforcement arrested a man after a chase through three counties ending in Boonville.
According to the Moniteau County Sheriff's Department, Matthew L. Scovell, 40, of Lawson, Mo., is allegedly ran several cars off the roadway before a chase ensued from Cole County into Moniteau County and ending in Boonville.
During the chase, officials say deputies were closely behind him in California when the suspect missed a corner drove through a yard and spun sideways the deputy car hit the side of the suspect car causing damage to the side of the suspect car. According to officials, there was very little damage to deputies' vehicle.
In the press release, deputies reportedly observed the suspect throwing items out of the vehicle (meth, drug paraphenlia, and counterfeit cash) which were later recovered.
According to court documents, Scovell is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, forgery, resisting arrest, driving while revoked/suspended, tampering with physical evidence, and operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner.
Scovell's bond is set at $250,000 for 10 percent cash or surety.
Scovell's next hearing is set for Sept. 28.
