Police arrest two people in connection with assault

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police arrested two people after a woman was assaulted in Central Columbia on Friday afternoon.

According to a news release, officers responded to a verbal disturbance with a weapon in the 700 block of Wilkes Boulevard around 2:30 p.m.

Police said they found a 40-year-old woman with injuries to her head and cuts on her arms and legs. The victim was taken to the hospital. Police said her injuries were not life-threatening.

Investigators found the suspects near Welcome Inn Motel on Providence Road after talking to witnesses.

Officers arrested Misty Guzman-Castro, 39, and Demeco Williams, 50, both of Columbia.

Police said they were arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault and armed criminal action.
