COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

UPDATE: The meeting was canceled.

The city's Sports Commission is scheduled to meet at noon Thursday to discuss upcoming sports bids and events in Columbia.

There are a few national events that the commission is expected to discuss, including the USA Artistic Swimming Masters event in February as well as the USA Ultimate Frisbee Division 3 College Championships.

The commission is also planning on giving an update on NCAA Cross Country events state high school fall championships in football and cross country.

The commission at its August meeting discussed lost business from the COVID-19 pandemic. Columbia and Boone County have limits on crowd sizes in place that are currently set to expire this month but could be extended.

Several sports events -- Homeruns for Heroes, USA Softball Missouri State Tournament for all classes and MONASP -- had already been canceled because of the pandemic.
