3 animals rescued in Columbia house fire
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Firefighters rescued two cats and a dog from a burning home Wednesday.
The Columbia Fire Department said in a news release that the pets were rescued after a fire broke out in the basement of a home at 1001 Jewell Avenue.
The fire was contained to the basement, the department said. The people who lived there made it out before firefighters arrived.
Another dog got out on its own, the department said. Firefighters gave the cats oxygen but the animals didn't appear to have any injuries.
An assistant fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire and where it started.
