Tracking another sweltering afternoon
TUESDAY: Another hot and humid afternoon lining up. Highs will top out in the low to mid 90’s with heat index values in the vicinity of 100. Be sure to drink plenty of water and take breaks in the shade if you plan on any strenuous activities outdoors.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear skies stick around tonight with lows falling to near 70.
EXTENDED: Another steamy afternoon on Wednesday with highs reaching the low 90’s again. Moisture increasing ahead of Laura will lead to a chance of showers and storms during the afternoon. These don’t look to be terribly widespread, but the chance will be there, especially south. We’re tracking the approach of what’s left of Laura toward Thursday and Friday. That system will make a northward push through Arkansas, and then turn east. Where exactly that happens is what determines our rain chances. The idea seems to be that areas around the bootheel will see the better bet for some heavy rain, but that wouldn’t take much of a change to slide a touch northwest. A frontal boundary will be sliding south into this weekend, which will keep the rain chances around.
