Appeals court reinstates lawsuit against 3 Columbia police officers
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)
A Missouri appeals court says a man's lawsuit against three Columbia police officers arising from a bar fight can proceed.
The Western District Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday that Nicholas Daniels' lawsuit should be returned to Circuit Judge Kevin Crane's court, finding that Crane incorrectly ruled in favor of the officers in April 2019. The case was sent back for three officers named in the lawsuit but the court upheld Crane's ruling in favor of former Sgt. Candy Corman and former Chief Ken Burton. Daniels was arrested after a bar fight in October 2013.
The charges were later dismissed and he filed a lawsuit alleging malicious prosecution.
