MU football reacts to reduced capacity at Faurot Field

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

MU football players said they understand the precautions the university is taking in reducing the capacity at Faurot Field.

On Monday, Mizzou officials confirmed that the stadium would reach no more than 25 percent capacity this year due to COVID-19.

Eli Drinkwitz said the decision doesn't change anything for him.

"Obviously playing in front of big crowds and getting your juice and all that in those stadiums and this league is a lot of fun, so if we've got to go to 25 percent then that's what we're going to do," he said. "We'll make the most of it."

Players say that crowds have shaped their experiences at Faurot Field.

"I remember the first time I played here and I heard the MIZ-ZOU, I got chills. So like, not having that, I couldn't imagine it," said Chris Turner, an MU senior defensive end. "It means a lot for me, personally, because we're this state's team, so we're not just playing for ourselves."

But they did add it all comes down to playing for themselves.

"We've got to play ball, we can't really be worried about who's in the stands. We've just got to take care of the task at hand," said Joshuah Bledsoe, a senior safety.
