Tracking a hot Friday followed by storms on Saturday
TONIGHT: Mostly clear to partly cloudy with patchy fog possible overnight. Lows in the upper 60s to around 70.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy with highs in the upper 80s. Heat indices between 93-95.
EXTENDED: The heat lingers into early Saturday, but an approaching cold front will bring a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms during the day into the evening. Some storms could be strong with isolated damaging winds and small hail, along with brief heavy rain. The front slowly sags south into Sunday, clearing us out and cooling temperatures into the mid-80s. A cooler, drier air mass will move south from Canada to start next week and keeps surface high pressure over the Midwest for much of the week. This will keep temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s during the day with much lower humidity. Lows fall into the upper 50s to low 60s with no rain chances after Sunday.
