Weather conditions shut down Route H project

A construction project on Route H is currently shut down due to cold weather, according to Columbia Spokesperson Brian Adkisson.

The work comes ahead of a runway expansion project at Columbia Regional Airport.

Crews completed Phase 3 of the project Thursday morning which closed North Rangeline Road Connection and limited traffic to one lane at Rangeline and Starr Road.

The City of Columbia, Boone County, Missouri Department of Transportation, engineer consultant, and Emery Sapp & Sons Inc construction company will jointly make the decision to begin Phase 4 as soon as the weather improves, said Airport Manager Mike Parks.

He said the weather could delay the construction until spring.

The fourth phase, which will take about 30 days, is expected to have the most impact on emergency response times. Route H is the main access road to the Englewood area.

During phase four, Columbia Regional Airport public safety crews will help Southern Boone Fire respond to emergencies. The joint effort is intended to bring down response times.

The entire project is scheduled to end before Dec. 25. The project is weather permitting.
