Police investigate shooting in east Columbia
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Columbia Police Department is searching for a suspect after officers arrested two people in connection to a shooting in east Columbia on Sunday morning.
Columbia police said Allana Bullock, 43, and Lakeisha Thomas, 34, both of Columbia were arrested on trespassing and disturbance charges.
Police are still looking for the third suspect, Richard Green, 32, of Columbia.
In a news release, the Columbia Police Department said officers were called to the 5300 block of Godas Circle around 1 a.m. on Sunday for a disturbance. While they were on the way, they were told gunshots had been fired.
During their investigation, officers said they learned three people had been asked to leave a property in the area, but refused. The homeowner told officers they then fired several gunshots into the air in an effort to get the people to leave.
"As a community we have to find ways to solve disputes that don’t involve the use of a gun," Chief Geoff Jones said. "I fully support our citizens in protecting themselves and hope we can find alternative solutions that keep us all safe."
No one was hurt and there wasn't any property damage.
The investigation is expected to be sent to the prosecuting attorney's office to review the actions of all people involved.
