Board of Trustees announced Tuesday that the Boone Health System will soon have a new chief executive officer.

According to a news release, Troy Greer was appointed to the position. He is set to start on Sept. 1.

Greer is currently the CEO of Lovelace Medical Center and Heart Hospital of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He has worked there since 2007.

“We are excited to have someone of Troy Greer’s stature and accomplishments lead us as we embark upon our mission as an independent community hospital system,” Dr. Jerry Kennett, Chairman of the Boone Hospital Board of Trustees said.

Leaders chose Greer after narrowing the search down to three final candidates. Each candidate visited Columbia and met with the trustees, staff and other community members, according to the release.

Officials said Greer will lead the transition planning for Boone Hospital Center, while Jim Sinek will continue to serve as president and lead the day-to-day operations of the hospital under BJC until his retirement at the end of the year.

Sinek has been president of Boone since August 2013. The hospital announced his retirement in January.
