Tracking dangerous heat and humidity, limited storm chances
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and comfortable with lows in the upper 60s to around 70.
TOMORROW: Intense heat begins with dew points rising in to the low 70s, getting us to the upper 90s to around 100 for the heat index. Expect a breezy afternoon with gusts up to 20 mph. Storm chances will be limited during the day, but a complex of storms could move in after midnight for northern Missouri.
EXTENDED: A cold front to our north on Tuesday will drop south and bring a batch of showers and thunderstorms to southern Iowa and northern Missouri late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds to areas north of I-70. Storms lose strength as they progress south, but should limit temperatures from getting as hot. By Thursday we get heat indices back into the upper 90s. The weather team will likely issue a Weather Alert Day from Friday through the weekend as air temperatures are expected to get into the 102-105 degree range through Sunday. Rain chances will be limited to afternoon pop up storms outside of Wednesday.
