Tracking strong storms into Thursday morning

TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy with scattered to widespread strong storms into the overnight hours. Lows in the upper 60s to around 70.

TOMORROW: Storms exit early, becoming partly cloudy and cooler with highs in the low 80s.

EXTENDED: The cold front will likely stay to our south going into Thursday, but it begins to creep back north on Friday, triggering another round of scattered storms. Temperatures reach back into the low 90s with heat index values approaching 100 degrees. Over the weekend, the front retreats and we're left with high pressure overhead, keeping both days largely dry. We'll still have heat and humidity from the weekend into early next week with temperatures in the upper 80s to around 90. Over the weekend, Tropical Storm Cristobal will impact the Gulf Coast, bringing heavy rain and storms to coastal states. The remnants of this system are expected to track north early next week, and potentially bring storm chances and cooler temperatures to Mid-Missouri by Tuesday into Wednesday.
