Callaway County prosecutors filed multiple charges against an Auxvasse man after deputies say he claimed to have coronavirus and coughed on them.

Callaway County deputies arrested 50-year-old Anthony R. Dick on Thursday after he allegedly broke out a window at a neighbor's house.

Deputies were called to a residence in the 1600 block of County Road 261 in Auxvasse just before 6:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving a report of property damage. Dick's probable cause statement said he broke a neighbor's window with a baseball bat and shoved the neighbor after an argument.

Dick told deputies that he was involved in an argument and then left the neighbor's property, documents said. Deputies said they arrested Dick after he wouldn't listen to their orders.

The court documents said Dick was placed into the deputies' vehicle but he later escaped and ran towards his residence.

Dick said he "had coronavirus" and then started coughing in the direction of the deputies while he was being taken to the county jail, documents said. According to the probable cause statement, Dick also told deputies they were going to "take the virus home to their children and kill their families."

Dick was charged with felonies for resisting arrest and first-degree burglary. He also faces several misdemeanor charges for assault and property damage.

A hearing is scheduled for Friday. Online court records didn't list an attorney for Dick.
