COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Montreil Donell Johnson, 34, of Columbia was arrested after barricading himself in a home on North Willowbrook Road in Columbia.

According to Columbia police at the scene, officers were in the area at around 9:40 p.m. Saturday when they observed Johnson, who was wanted for Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree from an incident on April 23rd.

When officers attempted to make contact, they said Johnson went into the residence.

CPD and its SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams were trying to make contact with Johnson for hours. Authorities were using a loudspeaker to try to get him to surrender.

CPD had its BearCat, an armored vehicle, at the scene. Boone County sheriff's deputies also responded.

After several attempts were made to get Johnson out of the house, the SWAT team made entry to the residence and located him at 3:55 a.m., unconscious and hiding in a clothes dryer.

Though authorities did not know if the subject was armed, they said they were approaching the situation with caution.

Johnson was then taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being released and booked into The Boone County Jail.
