Fire marshals investigating cause of Jefferson City fire.

An investigation is underway following an early-morning fire in Jefferson City.

Authorities arrived at the house near the corner of East Capitol Avenue and Riverside Drive just before 12:30 a.m. When they got to the scene, fire crews saw a heavy fire at the back of the structure.

It took crews about 15 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

All people inside the residence made it out safely. They are currently displaced from their home and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

The fire left serious damage on the rear side of the home and caused some damage inside. A structure next door had some exposure to the fire that authorities say was of concern, but the fire did not spread to any other homes.

The Missouri Fire Marshals are currently investigating the fire's cause. Investigators are exploring all possibilities and said they cannot rule out foul play at this time.
