Numerous ways to report suspected stay-at-home order violations

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Residents can report violations of Missouri, Boone County and the city of Columbia's stay-at-home orders if they suspect or witness others violating them.

Columbia/Boone County Health Department spokesman Lucio Bitoy said who to call depends on the violation. He said those who see something they think violates the orders should call 311, a non-emergency number.

Bitoy said if someone wants to report a complaint after an event occurs the health department recommends sending an email. Multiple people will see it and someone will follow up, he said.

The Columbia/Boone County Health Department said if someone suspects a business is not adhering to occupancy limits outlined in the governor's order, those complaints will be reported to the fire marshal's office.

Boone County and Columbia have been under a stay-at-home order since local leaders signed one last month. A statewide stay-at-home order went into effect Monday.

The orders prohibit residents from going out except for access to essential services and recreation. They also limit the activities of businesses, including closing down restaurant dining rooms.
