Boone County reports 20 cases of COVID-19

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia and Boone County health officials reported Monday afternoon that 20 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the county.

A count maintained on the city of Columbia's website went up Monday afternoon from 19 reported earlier in the day to 20. Seven of the cases are in people age 45-64 and three of the cases are believed to have been contracted locally in what health officials call "community transmission."

According to the website, at least 14 of the cases are travel-related.

One person from Boone County and two others from around the state have died from coronavirus.

Callaway County health officials confirmed four more cases of novel coronavirus Monday. It brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in the county to nine. Each of the cases is connected with William Woods University.

The state reported Monday that five cases have been confirmed in Cole County.

State health officials said Monday that 183 cases have been confirmed statewide. However, that count does not include some cases reported by local health departments.

St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson said Monday that a St. Louis woman in her 30s died from a non-travel-related case.
