Tracking near record warmth Friday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild with lows near 60. Patchy fog in low lying areas.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and hot with near record highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.

EXTENDED: We'll see mild lows overnight as we fall to about 60 degrees under clear skies. There may be some patchy fog in low lying areas like river valleys similar to this morning. We could see near record highs on Friday as the forecast gets us to about 90, and the record in Columbia is 91. Mild temperatures continue on Saturday morning, about 10-12 degrees above average. We'll rise to the mid-upper 80s by late afternoon with an increase in cloud cover late Saturday into Sunday as the remnants Isaias pass to our east. Monday will be close to record warm again as upper high pressure builds from the south, sending temperatures to the low 90s area-wide. By mid-week, a cold front approaches from the west, but stalls out just north of us, giving us repeated chances for scattered showers between Tuesday night and Thursday, adding up to 1-2" of rain. We'll remain mild on the south side of this front with highs around 80, but when it finally pushes through, we can expect highs closer to normal in the upper 60s to low 70s by next weekend.
