ASHLAND, Mo. (KMIZ)

Southern Boone pitcher Brenna went "Beyond the Game" with ABC 17 Sports Director Nathalie Jones, as a part of a two-part feature on the Eagles' standout pitching tandem.

The other half of that tandem - junior Rylee Ellsworth - can be watched here.

You can find a full transcript of the interview with Young below.

Nathalie Jones: "What's up folks? We are back at Southern Boone High School meeting the other half of our Southern Boone pitching tandem, Brenna Young. Brenna, I mean, you, you come in as a freshman last year and you make an impact. What led to your success just so early on here at Southern Boone?"

Brenna Young: "I think Gracie [Britton] helped me a lot. She kind of just like helped me and adapted me into the team. Like it was a big help, got me in the swing of things. So I think she helped me a lot to just get into it."

Jones: "To see Gracie Britton go on to Mizzou, just what kind of inspiration does it give all these girls on this team?"

Young: "It just pushes us farther, just to show that like people can go far from a small town like this. So, she's just inspiration to all of us."

Jones: "What's the most underrated part of being a pitcher for you?"

Young: "Personally I think it's just that work ethic you have to put into it. It just teaches you more lessons in life. Like, I really enjoy that part of it."

Jones: "What do you feel like is your bread and butter pitch, so far?"

Young: "Rise ball."

Jones: "Your rise ball, OK, interesting. Rylee [Ellsworth] had the same answer. What do you feel like is so good about your rise ball?"

Young: "The spin, it's just like - it's kind of hard to get that much spin as a sophomore, so it just, it works so well. It just gets the batters off guard."

Jones: "We make so much of the walk-up songs for hitters. What would your walk-up song be?"

Young: "Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake."

Jones: "What do you like about this Eagles team this year?"

Young: "We're all just so bonded like we're all like great friends and it's just so much fun to be around everyone."

Jones: "Where do you hope this team can go?"

Young: "I hope we make it to state. I think we will. I think we'll make it far in state maybe win, we'll have to see."

Jones: "Stay tuned, right? Well, folks, you just went beyond the game with Brenna Young. Brenna, thanks for hanging out."

Young: "Yes, of course."
