COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

No injuries were reported after the Columbia Fire Department responded to a structure fire call at a strip mall in the 600 block of Business Loop 70 West on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a press release from the department, crews arrived at the business just after 2 p.m. within three minutes and found light smoke coming from one unit. They entered the unit, began looking for potential occupants inside and started to put out the fire.

Damage was limited to a kitchen area. The fire was under control within five minutes, according to the release.

The fire was determined to be an accidental cooking fire.

The release says extended time was needed to remove smoke from the building and help business owners return to normal operations.

A total of seven fire trucks, two fire chiefs, a safety captain and a fire marshal responded to the scene.
