Tracking triple-digit heat and pop-up storms this afternoon

THIS AFTERNOON: Dangerously hot and muggy, with a heat index up to 100 degrees along and south of I-70. Spotty thunderstorms may develop by mid to late afternoon, bringing isolated downpours.

TONIGHT: Storms die down into the evening, and temperatures remain warm in the 80s through sunset. Lows fall to the mid-70s.

EXTENDED: Our summer-like pattern continues through the end of the week, with another chance of midday pop-ups on Thursday, and a heat index above 100 degrees through Saturday along and south of I-70. A cold front will eventually move through the area late Sunday, bringing rain chances and a nice cooldown to the upper 70s early next week.
