Tracking hot and humid Tuesday, scattered storms possible

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and warm with lows in the low to mid-70s.

TOMORROW: Hot and humid, scattered storms late in the day. Highs in the lower 90s.

EXTENDED: Winds begin shifting tonight to the south, gusting up to 20 mph and keeping lows in the lower to mid-70s on the south side of a front situated to our north. Tomorrow, temperatures rise to about 10 degrees above normal with highs in the low 90s, and with dew points near 70 in some spots, we'll likely see a heat index in the triple digits. The NWS has a heat advisory up for counties along and south of the Missouri River on Tuesday. Scattered storms may develop by late afternoon or early evening near an outflow boundary from Tuesday morning storms across northern Missouri, bringing the potential for brief downpours and gusty winds. The overall severe weather risk is low, but we could deal with scattered storms through Wednesday morning until the front creeps back north, keeping a daily chance for storms along and north of Highway 36. Points south of there will experience prolonged unusual warmth with highs in the low 90s through Saturday. The front looks to finally migrate south by the weekend, bringing a chance of rain and storms, and cooler air by late next weekend or early next week.
