Tracking morning fog, cooler and pleasant Friday to end the week

TONIGHT: Gradual clearing and mild with lows in the lower to mid-60s. Fog developing late and it could be dense into the morning.

TOMORROW: Gradual clearing with partly sunny skies. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.

EXTENDED: With calm winds and clearing skies, we will likely see fog develop overnight into early Friday morning with a wet ground. Once that clears, we'll see more sunshine between clouds and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s on Friday. We'll remain dry into Friday evening locally and in Lawrence for Mizzou football. The weekend will start off pleasant on Saturday morning, but with a front to our north, we may see late afternoon/evening storms develop that could bring heavy downpours and a few strong wind gusts across northern Missouri through about sunset. The Storm Prediction Center has hoisted a level 1/5 risk for severe weather for the northern half of the state on Saturday to cover that wind potential. Sunday is looking largely dry but still slightly warmer than average. Weak high pressure to our south will keep temperatures near 90 on Monday, but a front approaches by Tuesday and will bring repeated chances for rain and storms from Tuesday through the end of the week, with a gradual cool down back below average possible by the end of next week.
