Tracking heat through the weekend with little relief ahead

TODAY: Wednesday is hot and sunny, again, much like each day so far this week. Expect highs in the upper 90s, and heat index values in the 100s.

TONIGHT: Some cumulus clouds are expected to develop this afternoon, but these will fall with sunset. Clear skies are expected, but temperatures only fall into the 80s after sunset, and 70s after midnight.

EXTENDED: A heat advisory is in place in Mid-Missouri through Saturday. This heat and humidity will continue to bring heat indexes in the 100-105 degree range the rest of this period. Some shifting of the upper-level ridge of high pressure, or our "heat dome" will promote northerly flow aloft, and therefore slim chances at storms and cooler air. However, rain chances are currently too low to include in the forecast and relief will be just enough to keep our heat indexes in the 90s instead of the 100s.
