Juvenile suspect in east Columbia shooting to remain in custody

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 15-year-old boy who is accused of shooting another youth earlier this week will remain in state custody, according to the juvenile office.

The name of the boy accused in the Tuesday shooting in 5700 block of Canaveral Drive has not been named by authorities in accordance with Missouri law.

The boy is currently charged with five counts of first-degree assault –one of which is a Class A felony, while the other four are Class B felonies – as well as single counts of unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and tampering with evidence.

The shooting left another youth in critical condition.

A hearing in the case is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9.
