Tracking a drier air mass, cooler temperatures until the weekend

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cool with lows in the lower 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and comfortable with highs in the lower 80s.

EXTENDED: We can expect a cooler night ahead as a cold front presses south and allows dry air into the region. We'll be more comfortable the next few days with lows in the lower 60s and highs in the low 80s through Saturday morning. Upper high pressure begins to move east, building across the region and hanging out for much of next week. The main storm path along the top of high pressure stays just to our north, so we may have some passing clouds over the weekend, but the main story will be the heat with the heat index approaching the upper 90s to around 100 from Monday into next week. We'll watch to see if the ridge tries to nudge south at all during the week and put us in a better spot for a few storms. We could finally see a shift in the pattern by late next week or weekend, but a huge cool down is not expected for Labor Day weekend locally.
