Tracking rain chances for some Friday night and Saturday morning

TODAY: Friday is mostly sunny and mild, with high temperatures in the mid-80s. Winds are light from the south.

TONIGHT: With a cooler-than-average high temperature, we'll cool to the 70s shortly after sunset. At this time, clouds will be increasing for some as decaying thunderstorms move into areas near Highway 65. This will be part of a weak cold front sliding into the region. Severe storms are unlikely.

EXTENDED: Clouds and some showers are likely to linger into Saturday morning, especially in the west. This may impact Friday evening and Saturday morning at the fair, but most of both days appear dry. In fact, this may keep the entire region a few degrees cooler on Saturday, making for a pleasant day for most of the region. Clouds may linger through the morning. Despite increasing sunshine on Sunday, we'll feel cooler and drier air continuing to flow in from the north behind Saturday's cold front. Highs are forecast near 80 in Columbia, and in the upper 70s in the northeast. Storm chances return Sunday night into Monday.
