Tracking mild and dry weather on the other side of storm chances

TODAY: Wednesday is a wet start for many, with scattered thunderstorms ongoing at the start of the day. Rain chances will lower with time from 7 a.m. to noon, but showers and weak storms may linger through midday. The warmest air is pushed south of the region, but warm temperatures are likely again today near the Lake of the Ozarks to I-44. Temperatures may reach the upper 80s to 90 degrees here. This may spark an isolated strong storm or two again this afternoon, but the greatest likelihood of strong storms will be south of I-44. Temperatures are more likely to hover near 80 degrees at the warmest for most along and north of Highway 50. Humidity will still be high, and that, plus cooling upper-level temperatures, may give us an isolated chance for marginally strong storms with a wave that is forecast to sweep in from the northwest around 7-9 p.m. along and north of Highway 24.

TONIGHT: We'll carry a slim chance for showers through sunrise on Thursday, but most of us dry up overnight, and we expect a visible sunrise.

EXTENDED: Sunny and mild conditions are forecast for Thursday and Friday, which are the choice days for getting outside this week. Saturday will be the warmest, but still likely in the mid-to-upper 80s. A weak wave is forecast to sweep the region over the end of the weekend, likely bringing a rain chance at some point Sunday night into Monday.
